Story

Mustard Tree combats poverty and prevents homelessness.

We are a Greater Manchester Charity that creates opportunities for people and communities to help themselves through practical support, life skills and connections into work.

We provide food, clothing, furniture and other essentials alongside crisis support, courses, classes and training, all in the same building.

This wrap-around approach gives people the dignity, confidence and tools they need to build themselves back up.

But only with your help.

So what are we doing this time...

Introducing: The Pennine Way Challenge — ‘Out & Back’ from Edale

We’re excited to bring back the McBride Charity Hike for 2026 — and this year, we’re inviting our colleagues to join us on a new adventure along one of Britain’s most iconic trails: the Pennine Way.

What is the Pennine Way Challenge?

Our 2026 challenge will see us tackling a section of one of the UK’s most iconic trails: the Pennine Way, beginning in the village of Edale.

To make this challenge accessible to everyone, we’re offering three route options, suitable for all fitness and experience levels:

• 12km route — perfect for beginners or anyone wanting a gentler introduction to the challenge

• 20km route — a moderate test with rewarding views and varied terrain

• 30km route — the full endurance experience for those looking for a serious challenge

All routes follow an ‘out and back’ section of the Pennine Way from Edale, taking in classic scenery such as Jacob’s Ladder, Kinder edges, and sweeping Peak District vistas.

Our goal for 2026 is to collectively walk the full length of the legendary Pennine Way — an incredible 431 km — as a Group!

Every kilometre counts. Whether you’re taking on the 12 km, 20 km or 30 km route, your contribution helps us get closer to covering the entire distance of this iconic trail.
