Paul's 100 mile run for Sophie's Clinical Nurse Specialist

Paul McKenzie is raising money for The Boom Foundation
In memory of Sophie Mathewson

Thames Path 100 mile Ultramarathon · 2 May 2026

In April 2013, The Boom Foundation was set up and it remains the only charity in NI dedicated to supporting patients suffering from sarcoma, a rare form of bone and soft tissue cancer. 50% of funds raised go to Sarcoma UK towards vital research; the rest supports those affected by sarcoma in NI.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Paul McKenzie and I enjoy running! On 2nd May 2026 I plan to run the Thames Path 100 in London. This time I am running to raise funds for “Sophie’s Clinical Nurse Specialist” in conjunction with the Boom Foundation, to support my good friends Allen and Katy Mathewson who lost their daughter Sophie to osteosarcoma. Sophie was diagnosed at 16 years of age and sadly passed away aged 18 on 16th of April 2021. You can watch a short video about Sophie's story here: https://vimeo.com/1130206821?share=copy

“Sophie’s Clinical Nurse Specialist” will provide care and support to sarcoma patients across Northern Ireland. The post is invaluable and will make a huge difference to sarcoma cancer patients throughout their sarcoma journey. All and any donations are very gratefully received.
