Story
My name is Yuz. I am Associate Professor and Consultant Rheumatologist in Leeds, United Kingdom.
I am a strong advocate for promoting inclusion in social and physical activities regardless of background and ability. For this reason, I am running the 2026 London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Sense International. This charitable organisation offers support to people living with deafblindness and their families around the world. The support programmes provided include early screening and detection of deafblindness, specialist education in school or at home, and training to the teachers and other professionals to support people with deafblindness to build their social skills and expand their potentials to the fullest.
I am also dedicating this to my late brother, Yuzairim who had disability and was not offered opportunities for a level playing field to flourish when he grew up ❤️.
I am a late bloomer and only took up running in 2022 following a major ankle surgery. I have since completed 19 marathons including the 6-Star Abbott World Marathon Majors. This will be my 3rd London Marathon; a fitting way to celebrate my recent achievement in conquering “777” the Great World Race (7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days) last November by running this iconic course and supporting Sense International. I would like to inspire myself and others that if you put your mind and dedication to something you desire, you can accomplish anything including the 26.2 Miles Marathon! Nothing is ever impossible 👊🏾. Thank you for your kind donations and support ❤️.
