CoppaTrek! Isle of Skye · 14 June 2025 to 20 June 2025 ·

This June, our fabulous CoppaFeel! trekkers will be taking on 100km over 5 days in the Isle of Skye, all in the name of chest checking!

Story

This June I will be completing a massive trek across the Isle of Skye in Scotland. There is a very good reason. My friend Vicky. Vicky was the best and most determined Scottish person you’ll ever meet! I’m doing it for her. She was bloody great! Sadly, Vicky lost her battle and due to many reasons; Covid being one, she fought in relative silence, with the support of her family.

By supporting me, you’ll be supporting Coppafeel breast cancer awareness charity, a truly worthy cause. This charity raises awareness and opens up the conversation about checking our breast/chest tissue and they send reminders out every month. They empower young people to advocate for their own health and as a healthcare provider, I live and breathe that.

“Just drive” an absolute core memory for me and my sister Dawn. One day I was driving my sis and Vicky home from Loch Lomond . When Vicky’s cousin Donny thought he could beat us! …he thought wrong! Vicki’s only words to me were “just drive”!!!

We won!

Back in the day, Vicky wore only heels, I mean everywhere! She wore them so much that her calf muscles shortened and when she needed to wear trainers she really struggled and she had to train her body to walk in flat shoes!!! Haha! Love you 🥰

I will not be walking in heels, that’s for sure!

VickI was the type of friend who just got it, she just knew. No explaining, she was there. I think that’s why I find it so hard because I wasn’t there for her when she was diagnosed. I wasn’t able to be there for her family when she passed due to Covid and as a result, I wasn’t able to grieve.

I am doing this trek and raising money and awareness for Coppafeel in memory of my friend Victoria Brown nee Bain. I am doing it to feel connected to her, to celebrate who she was and our friendship. In doing so, I hope I can allow myself to say goodbye and grieve the loss I feel.

Let’s encourage more people to check their chests and to talk about it. Life’s hard and it’s harder on your own so share and be open, let people in and don’t be afraid to show the vulnerable side. I hope that’s what I’m doing.

Much love xxx
