Story
On the 5th of September my mum and I will be participating in the 15 mile Walk this Way event for Kingston Hospital Charity. We have a special interest in raising funds for the KHC Reminiscence and Interactive Therapy Activities (RITA) technology fundraiser to support the trust’s dementia and delirium services because my grandmother passed away last December from Alzheimer dementia.
Our target is to raise at least £3,500.
We would like to honour her with this walk and support other patients in a similar situation.
She was a kind hearted, friendly and sociable person who was always one of the loudest people in the room and always knew what to say to bring a smile or laugh to your face when you needed it most.
She suddenly fell sick after having a fall which led to countless hospital stays and slowly one of the loudest voices in the room turned into the quietest as dementia began to take parts of her away from us and took over her life.
The RITA program provides cognitive therapy to dementia patients in hospital using a RITA device with interactive touch screen system that offers reminiscence content: films, games, music and read messages from loved ones.

All of your donations will help us make a start to that difference.
