Story
I am doing this half marathon in honour of Hardish Narula, a truly remarkable woman who sadly lost her battle with stage 4 metastasised breast cancer on 27th May 2025, as she was undergoing intense chemotherapy due to the cancer spreading to her eye, bones, jaw, lungs, spine, liver and lymph nodes.
Mama Narula endured more than most of us could imagine, all whilst having the biggest smile on her face and the greatest dance moves!
She faced cancer three times: first beating stage 3 breast cancer in 2020, then overcoming mouth / saliva gland cancer in 2021. The very worst of it returning 6 years after her first diagnosis in 2019, to find that the initial cancer had now spread.
Despite all of this, she fought every single day with courage, dignity, and an unshakable light that inspired everyone around her. She tried every available treatment, holding onto hope that it could slow the spread and give her precious quality time. While the treatment couldn't give her that chance, it was something that didn't even exist 5 years ago! Proof of how important continued research really is.
I'm running to honour a mother's incredible strength to support her family and the immense amounts of courage both her girls have shown over the years, to raise money so that more mothers, daughters, sisters, wives and friends have a better fighting chance in the future. Every step I take will be for her and everyone still fighting!
If you can, however small, please donate and help fund the vital research that gave mummy Narula hope...and that could one day save someone else's life!
