At the beginning of this year, our mam was hospitalised with what we thought was viral pneumonia with over 4L of fluid collecting on one of her lungs. Fast forward to her biopsy results and a diagnosis that turned our families world upside down - stage 4 lung & bone cancer. And while we were told her cancer is treatable, it is not curable. It could also be hereditary, passed through the maternal line.

It’s a reality we’re still learning to live with — a reality we’ve been through before and one that so many families face far too often.

Our mam is strong. She is brave. She has faced and is still facing every appointment, every scan, and every treatment with courage and a personality that still lights up a room (even on her worst days).

We are two sisters walking a combined 30,000 steps a day throughout August to raise funds for lung cancer research. Over 200,000 steps a week — every one of them for our mum, our nanny, our granny, our aunty betty and for every person out there fighting every day 🤍

We walk for better treatments.

We walk for earlier detection.

We walk for the day when treatable becomes curable.
