Story
✨We’re Meg and Phoebe, and we’re running the London Marathon 2026 (!!!) for Refuge — the UK’s largest specialist service supporting women and children experiencing domestic, sexual and gender-based abuse.
One in four women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime. On average, two women are killed every week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. In 2024 alone, 2.3 million women aged 16 and over experienced domestic abuse. If we dedicated every single marathon step to one of those women, we’d still need to run another 53 marathons.
Those stats should stop you in your tracks — because they stopped us.
We’re running 26.2 miles for them: for the women who never got to escape. For the ones still trying. For the ones rebuilding their lives from scratch.
Refuge offers life-saving services — from emergency accommodation and legal advocacy to emotional support and the 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline, which helps thousands of women every year take the bravest first step: to leave.
On any given day, Refuge supports thousands of women and children. Just £17.60 could cover the cost of an expert responding to a woman in crisis. Every single donation counts.
This isn’t just a race — it’s our loud, sweaty, blisters-and-all way of saying: We see you. You matter. You are not alone.
By sponsoring us, you’re helping Refuge keep women and children safe — and showing that you stand for a world where safety isn’t a privilege, it’s a right.
If you’re able to donate, we’re so grateful — but even if you can’t, your support means the world to us. Whether you’re sharing, cheering us on, or just reading this: thank you for being with us. 💗
Lots of love,
Meg and Phoebe x
