Guiders Against Trans Exclusion (GATE) was set up in December 2025 following Girlguiding's announcement that trans girls and young women would no longer be allowed to join the organisation in the UK.

We are Girlguiding volunteers and parents of Girlguiding members who are getting active this May and taking action to change the lives of young trans people across the UK.

We're challenging ourselves to get active for one very important reason. To help ensure trans young people and their families can continue to access the emotional, informative, and peer-to-peer support they deserve.

Mermaids' vision is a safe, inclusive society where trans young people are empowered to live their best lives.
