Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

On the 17th of April 2025, my Dad was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour, a Grade 2 Meningioma. He had an operation to remove the tumour, which they managed to remove it all successfully. However, during the operation he suffered from a stroke which has left him with speech difficulties.

Despite this, he is doing so well with his speech and recent scans have shown no recurrence! We are so lucky as family.

I am running the Swansea Half Marathon on the 7th of June 2026 for Brain Tumour Research, as more research needs to go into this. As a family we were very fortunate that my Dad had the tumour he did, however some families aren’t so lucky.

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
