Story

Hi All,

On the 12th of July (one week before I turn 45... happy birthday to me!) I will be abseiling down the new Acute Services and Ward Block at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, pictured above. This block is due to open in autumn this year and is going to be a wonderful new home for neonatal and maternity care, critical care, and some surgical units among other things. It's five stories apparently, but recently it looks a lot taller to me...!

I'm doing this to raise money for the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity. The work of hospital charities is so important in making hospital stays more comfortable and supportive for people who attend by enhancing the essential healthcare provision - for example, some of the money raised from this event will go towards sensory equipment to support children and others with additional needs who have to attend hospital for surgeries. These things may seem small, but they make a massive difference in helping people deal with difficult circumstances well and recover more quickly.

The last time I abseiled was nearly 20 years ago, so this is slightly terrifying... but all for an excellent cause! Thank you so much for supporting me by donating what you can.

Megan
