Story
I’m running the Leeds Half Marathon to raise money for Marie Curie, who provided incredible end-of-life care for my grandad at home.
The Marie Curie nurses gave my grandad comfort, dignity, and reassurance during his final weeks. They also supported my nana and auntie by giving them much-needed overnight respite, and offered our whole family kindness and reassurance during an incredibly difficult time. They treated my grandad as if he were a member of their own family, and I will always be grateful for the respect and compassion they showed him right up until his last hours.
I’m running this marathon to support Marie Curie because I’ve seen first-hand how much difference they make to families in their last days with a loved one. Any donation, big or small, will help them continue providing this vital care to others who need it.
Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
Marie Curie is a charity working across the UK and we need your support to do our vital work.
