With the recent passing of my gran in early August of this year, I am pleased to announce I will be fundraising for cancer research at the University of Glasgow in memory of Margaret and John Queenan.

Unfortunately, most of us have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis. Whether this be personal or that of a loved one, the anxiety, pain and vulnerability cancer brings are all to familiar.

Margaret's Hodgkin's Lymphoma was able to be treated quickly, the support and treatment provided to her meant she was able to cease treatment and enter remission despite initial concerns. John received swift care for his pancreatic cancer, receiving cutting edge treatments he was able to spend crucial extra time with us despite the aggressiveness of his illness. The impact of cancer research is hard to overstate, and a donation to The Beatson Institute would ensure the continued research of new treatments resulting in better outcomes for cancer patients across the world.

Margaret and John were so much more than their cancer diagnoses however, both of them were two loving parents to my dad and his siblings, they were the true centre of our family. Their loss has been felt so deeply by all of us, and we are eternally grateful for the treatments they were able to receive. It is my hope that we see fewer and fewer families experience the heartache of losing a loved one to cancer.
