In memory of my mum, Liz Rooney, we are running the Edinburgh Sunset Half Marathon on 6 July 2024.

My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in February 2019 and passed away 5 months later on the 18th of July 2019.

Therefore, in memory of her 5 year anniversary, we have decided to get our running shoes out and run a half marathon to raise money for a cause close to our heart, Macmillan Cancer Support. They provide services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience.

Cancer is a challenging journey, not only for those diagnosed but also for their families and friends. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got.

They are 98% funded by voluntary donations, so fundraising is essential to make sure they can deliver the vital support people living with cancer need.

Cancer has not only affected our families but millions of others in the UK.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated, for a charity so close to our hearts.
