Story
As some of you may know, my dad was recently diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s and as a family it has been incredibly difficult to come to terms with. Early-onset dementia is sadly on the rise, yet there are still very few services or support groups tailored to younger people living with it. That’s why I’m so passionate about raising funds to help Alzheimer’s Society continue their vital work, supporting families like mine and funding research into early-onset dementia.
This cause is also very close to me professionally. I work as a Specialist Occupational Therapist on an acute dementia ward, where I see every day the huge impact dementia has not only on those living with it, but also on the families and carers around them. I’ve also seen first-hand how much Alzheimer’s Society does to support, empower, and bring hope to people affected.
Taking on the marathon is going to be one of the biggest challenges of my life, but every step will be for my dad, for my patients, carers/ colleagues and for everyone living with dementia.
I’d be so grateful for any support you can give, whether that’s through a donation, sharing my fundraising page, or simply sending encouragement along the way. Together, we can help make a real difference 💙🏃🏼♀️
