We're tackling one of the London Classics - Ride London 100 miles - on Sunday 26 May - our longest ride ever! We are raising money for the national charity for children in care and young care leavers, Become, to keep us motivated to get to the finish line!

On one of our training rides, at the top of Box Hill, we met a lovely group of cyclists from Biking for Children in Care (BfCiC), who have been fundraising for Become for over 23 years and who inspired us to use our Ride London challenge to raise money for this excellent charity.

Become is the national charity for children in care and young care leavers. They provide a range of frontline services for children in care as well as campaigning for a better care system and provide training for people who work with young care-experienced people.

There are more children in care than ever before - 83,340 as of March 2023. Due to a lack of suitable local authority places, there has been a 62% increase in children being placed more than 20 miles from home. Many care leavers experience a 'care cliff edge' on their 18th birthday, with a third of care leavers thinking they left care too soon.

Become provides essential support to children in care and young care leavers to flourish, heal, and fulfil their potential. Their vision is that care-experienced people have the same chances as everyone else to live happy, fulfilled lives.
