I chose to raise money for the Yosemite Conservancy because running 13.1 miles through Yosemite should mean something beyond the finish line. The Conservancy funds the real work of caring for this place, including grants that protect its wildlife and pay for the science that keeps the park healthy for the long haul. What moved me most is their commitment to climate research: studying how warming is reshaping Yosemite's forests, its snowpack and water, and the species that depend on them. Protecting wildlife and understanding climate change aren't side projects for them; they're at the heart of what donors like us make possible. When I cross that finish line, I want to know I helped fund the people studying and safeguarding the very landscape I got to run through.
