Across Kentucky communities, more than 1,000 Kentuckians are waiting for their gift of life.

While my experience is quite unique, I feel compelled to be a champion for the Donate Life cause. My husband Hayden died suddenly in November of 2023, at only 28 years old. He was briefly on the transplant list, but his body was riddled with so many infections that he passed away 16 days after arriving at the hospital, before he could be placed back on the list. However, when his family and I were told that he was at the top of the transplant list, the joy and hope that I felt will never be forgotten.

The feeling of intense hope that I was given has inspired a drive in me to support this cause for those who also will one day feel that immense joy, knowing their loved one can be given a second chance with a donation, as well as those who will one day feel that immense grief when losing their loved one who will donate to the gift of life.

Donate Life Kentucky Trust helps families across the state who are dealing with these life-altering situations. As a new member of the Donate Life Kentucky Trust Board of Directors, I have the honor of sitting on several committees, as well as chairing The Donor Support Assistance Fund. This fund helps aid these families with grants to help with travel expenses, and so much more.
