Story

In September, I’ll be running 45 miles over 3 days in Moab—one of the toughest endurance challenges I’ve taken on. But this run isn’t about miles or medals. It’s about gratitude, resilience, and paying forward life changing support.

I’m running in support of Raising Hope for Others, Inc., a New Jersey–based nonprofit that helps individuals and families facing overwhelming medical challenges. When life becomes unmanageable, they step in—providing medical transportation, help with basic needs like food and clothing, and financial assistance so families can focus on healing instead of bills.

This organization isn’t just meaningful to me—it directly supported my family.

In 2018, my niece Charli was Raising Hope for Others’ annual recipient. During one of the most difficult periods of my sister’s life, their support made a real difference: assistance with medical bills, a generator for their home (critical for Charli’s medical equipment), and a seven month supply of Thick It, which Charli needs to safely drink liquids and avoid aspiration pneumonia.

Charli has faced more in eight years than most people do in a lifetime—open heart surgery at eight weeks old, G tube insertion, double hip dysplasia, port insertion, brain surgery, and more.

And yet, her story continues to evolve.

This spring, Charli signed up to run track in the Special Olympics. After years of uncertainty, surgeries, and time in wheelchairs, she was preparing to line up on the track on May 9th. A recent visit to CHOP resulted in both legs being casted for six weeks—but even with setbacks, Charli’s spirit never wavers. Her positivity and infectious laugh light up every room. Movement brings her confidence, independence, and joy—and that is everything.

That’s why I’m running again.

From September 17–19, I’ll take on:

• Day 1: Pritchett Arch – 13.5 miles

• Day 2: Gemini Bridges – 16.75 miles

• Day 3: Porcupine Rim – 14.6 miles

Every mile represents how far Charli has come.

Every donation helps another family survive an impossible season.

If I can turn this challenge into hope, access, and relief for even one more family, every step will be worth it.

Thank you for supporting Raising Hope for Others and for being part of this journey with me.

If this story resonates with you, please consider donating to Raising Hope for Others. Every contribution—big or small—goes directly toward helping families facing overwhelming medical challenges when they need it most.
