Story

I truly believe in the power of a dog to change a life. In my 38 years, I have only been without a dog for 3 months of it. Dogs have an incredible power to make our lives whole by providing unconditional love, a never-ending willingness to please and a strong work ethic to always make their owners proud. I believe that we are truly lucky to have dogs. They complete our lives a way that no one else on this planet can ever match. They stick by us through thick and thin. Dogs are never just dogs. They are our family, our companions, and our sidekicks for life. You never walk alone on this Earth when you have four paws in your home. I owe everything to my dogs, and I will do anything to help people in need find a furry companion to guide and enrich their lives.

I am grateful beyond belief to be representing Team Guide Dogs UK in the 2026 London Marathon. It is truly an honor to give back and represent a charity who dedicates themselves to the power of providing canine companions to those who are impaired and need a four-legged friend to help guide them through life. I am dedicating this page to the memory of my mother, Lynn Callahan, who instilled the importance and love of dogs deep within my core from the beginning of my existence. I am also dedicating this fundraiser to Sandy Warren, my best friend, who lived for her dogs and did everything she could while on this Earth to provide for all the dogs of the world. I love and miss these two women very much, and this is a wonderful way to honor their memory 😊.

Guide Dogs UK is a charity that is funded almost entirely by donations. They help people living with vision impairment live active, independent lives by providing dogs who are trained to help change lives. These dogs not only provide companionship, but they are also highly trained. Guide Dogs UK is the only organization who both breeds and trains dogs in the UK.

Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss. This number is set to double by 2050, which is why our work is more important than ever before, however, we can only continue our life-changing work, such as our guide and buddy dog services, mobility training, education support, sighted guides and much more with your support.

With your support, we can help children and adults to live actively, independently, and well.

How your sponsorship could help:

£125 could buy a starter kit for a new guide dog owner, containing everything they need to start life with their new dog.

£451 could provide the parents of a child with a vision impairment with ten sessions of support.

£1000 could pay for an entire family to attend our Family weekend, where they can access specialist support and meet other families in similar situations.

Guide Dogs wouldn't be here without you. Our life-changing services depend on donations so thank you for supporting us. https://www.guidedogs.org.uk
