Story
I’m running the London Marathon this year for CARAS - a charity I volunteered for which supports for refugees and asylum seekers in South London.
For many, language barriers and unfamiliar systems make it difficult to navigate daily challenges. CARAS works to bridge these gaps, offering English lessons, social activities, workshops and 1:1 casework support.
I saw first-hand how CARAS's after-school clubs had on the lives of young refugees and asylum seekers. We helped with their homework, directed them to the right services, cooked healthy dinners and played hours of games.
Some of them arrived to the U.K.completely alone. The youth group helps them feel part of a family, making sure that nobody faces the asylum system alone.
