Each year, over 600 newborn infants need dedicated care in the Neonatal Ward at our hospitals. Our neonatal fund continues the exceptional work of our partner charity Scoo-B-Doo, who provide over 80% of the equipment used on the ward every day.

Story

Why Scoo-B-Doo? Because they gave my daughter, Lillia, the best start to life!

Lillia's Story

Lillia was born at 32 + 2 weeks via emergency c-section and weighed only 2ib 14oz. To put this into perspective, she was as long as my forearm from head to toe and weighed 1.3kg. Even though she was tiny, she was incredibly strong. Lillia needed assistance with a Nasogastric tube to help with feeds. Lillia was in hospital for 24 days and left hospital only weighing 3ib 8oz. This was because Lillia was thriving every day, surprising the staff and progressing so well, she didn't need assistance anymore despite her size. Myself and Josh (Lillia's daddy) visited NICU, twice a day, every day for long periods of time. During this time spent in NICU, we sat beside Lillia, accepting that her start to life was different.

Lillia will be 2 in September and no one would ever know she was premature.

If it wasn't for the staff, doctors, nurses, midwives and everyone who played an important role in the start to Lillia's life, she really wouldn't be where she is now. We are forever grateful for the support and how incredible everyone is at their jobs.

I would like you to keep reading to see how your donation will help, save and support premature and sick babies born in Gloucestershire Hospitals.
