Meherin Aklas is raising money for Mind In Harrow
We’re Mind in Harrow, your local mental health charity. We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We support thousands of local people through 10 inspirational services. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis – we’ll listen, give support and fight your corner.

Story

At Mind In Harrow, we have been a beacon of hope for individuals facing mental health challenges for over 25 years. In these uncertain times, where housing, financial security, and life opportunities are increasingly at risk, it is crucial that no one feels alone in their struggle. We collaborate with local services to uplift our communities and create meaningful change.

Imagine a world where everyone has the support they need to navigate their mental health journey. Together, we can ensure that those who are vulnerable receive the care and understanding they deserve.

As someone who has been through struggles which have affected my wellbeing, I am passionate about making sure people are not isolated in this ever changing climate. Since the pandemic, mental health issues are on the rise. No one should have to struggle to get the help they need. A breakdown can be prevented with the right support. Did you know Harrow has the highest rate of sectioned patients in London?

Having volunteered at Mind in Harrow over the years, we have campaigned to save adult health services that bridge the gap amidst cuts. We campaigned to save the travel freedom pass and have mental health recognised as a proper disability a few years ago. I have been lucky to ask questions to the Cabinet about what they're doing to make sure people are fully supported. At MIH we are eliminating the stigma across all backgrounds and circumstances. We take onboard your feedback on Stepping Stones courses, understand what it's like to be a carer, someone from any background struggling with the cost of living and how it affects families and friends. We're doing everything we can to support you when you feel at a loss.Take a leap of faith and donate what you can.

Join us in our mission to JUMP for MENTAL HEALTH! Your contribution will help us reach our target of £600, allowing us to continue providing essential support and resources. Let’s make sure that no one has to face their challenges alone.
