Calgary Humane Society: Dog Jog, a walk or jog to end animal cruelty · 3 June 2023 ·

Calgary Humane Society's annual Dog Jog, a walk or jog to help end animal cruelty, helps raise crucial funding to support life-saving programs focused on education, protection, rehabilitation and ultimately, a new beginning for animals in need.

Story

It's been a year of firsts without my sweet girl, Jasmine, and this is the first year that I attend Dog Jog with her in my heart. It is because of the 15+ years that she shared her light with all of the people and animals she encountered from the day we adopted her on March 11, 2007 to the day she passed on August 4, 2022, that I am hoping to reach my fundraising goal of $1,000 this year.

Anyone who knows me, knows the passion I hold for Calgary Humane Society. This is an organization that has changed my life many times over; from when Patrick and I adopted our very first dog, Jerome, from CHS in 2004, to becoming employed at CHS in 2006, and then adopting and fostering many, many beloved animals over the years. I am so fortunate to be in a career that I love with an organization that I care so deeply about.

As a staff member of CHS, I am witness every single day to the lifesaving work my colleagues perform. From the extremely emotionally and physically demanding tasks of cleaning, feeding, medicating, performing surgeries, seizing animals from situations of cruelty and neglect, sending animals to board certified specialists, providing boarding for pet owners fleeing intimate partner abuse and those who have lost have lost their homes through natural disaster, educating the community on responsible pet ownership, and finding these special souls a home to call their own - none of this work is possible without the support of our donors! Many people assume that CHS receives government funding but this is a myth.

CHS relies on generous individuals like you to allow us to fulfill our mission of helping as many animals as we can.

With that said, any amount (no matter if it's $1 or $1,000) helps CHS in caring for animals like Jasmine who go on to provide a lifetime of love and companionship to their new family <3
