My name is Melanie and I am the RAI CHA Assessor for McCormick Dementia Services. An organization with so much passion and dedication to improving the lives of people living with dementia and their care partners.

I have the great privilege to attend the 2024 McCormick Foundation's Ritz Gala coming up on May 2. This event is a fundraiser that chooses a specific project each year, a vision to make reality.

The healthcare landscape faces unprecedented challenges, with critical shortages in roles like personal support workers, registered practical nurses, and registered nurses. The aging population amplifies this urgency, necessitating innovative, technology-driven education and training.

That’s why the 2024 Ritz Gala is supporting the development of the Learning and Development Centre at McCormick Care Group!

Introducing the Learning and Development Centre – Ontario’s pioneering dementia care and long-term care learning and development simulation lab – more than a facility; it's an investment in shaping future health care professionals. Beyond McCormick, this initiative aims to elevate dementia and long-term care education across Ontario, encompassing roles such as personal support workers, registered practical nurses, registered nurses, recreational therapists and vital staff like housekeepers and dietary personnel, and extending beyond McCormick to include students, volunteers, and staff of our industry partners.

The Learning and Development Centre at McCormick Care Group stands as a symbol of transformative education in long-term care and community-based healthcare, heralding a new era of excellence.
