Cambridge Women’s Aid (CWA) offers information, advice, practical help and emotional support to women affected by domestic abuse. Our outreach service covers Cambridge City, East Cambs and South Cambs. We also offer safe accommodation in our refuge to women and children in need of a place of safety.

Story

Cambridge Women’s Aid has been a lifeline for me and my family, providing the support we needed to escape an abusive situation and rebuild our lives. They not only offered us a safe space to live but also helped us regain our independence and hope for a brighter future. Not living in an abusive household has completely changed our lives for the better—we finally feel safe at home.

My mum, who was new to the country, didn’t know anyone and endured years of emotional and physical abuse. My siblings and I were also affected, growing up in that environment with no way out. Thanks to Cambridge Women’s Aid, we were able to break free and start a new chapter.

Thousands of vulnerable women and children across the UK face similar circumstances, and Cambridge Women’s Aid is there for them, offering crucial refuge, emotional support, and practical assistance.

I wanted to give back to this incredible charity, knowing how much they’ve helped us. That’s why I’m hiking Snowdon in May to raise funds, hoping that this money will help other families out there—especially children who don’t deserve to live in fear. Your donation will directly impact the lives of women and children in desperate need of safety, empowerment, and the chance to start over.
