Story
Thank you for visiting our page. We're a team fundraising for LifeCare Edinburgh as Baillie Gifford's charity of the year.
LifeCare has a proud 80-year history of providing uplifting, positive and practical support for older people. Their vision is of a society where no older person is left alone or isolated. They believe that older people should be supported to thrive in their own homes and be active members of their community
The team so far: James Fontana, Melissa Black, Ruth Taylor, Victoria Shanks
Everyone across the firm is invited to join, along with family and friends. Seasoned walkers and runners, along with those simply looking to get more steps in are encouraged to take part; the aim is to create an inclusive team united by the goal of challenging ourselves and raising money for a great cause!
Why am I taking part?
I find purpose in challenging myself physically, helping others, and raising money for worthy causes. I have cerebral palsy and last year had ankle surgery but, with the knowledge that there are many who are in far less fortunate circumstances, this is always something that’s driven me to make the most of what I have. Prior to surgery, I completed several challenges including swimming, walking and hill climbing. Last year, I completed my first 2.5km continuous swim and 6 months post-surgery, I made it to just under halfway up Ben Nevis. This time, my ambition in taking part in the Kiltwalk is to walk my furthest continuous distance.
I wanted to form a team united by the challenge and the spirit of raising money for a worthy cause. Every donation is hugely appreciated.
Thank you,
James
