Story
Autism is not only something close to my heart personally, but also a part of my everyday professional life, where I see the importance of understanding, advocacy, and the right support for young people as they transition from secondary school and prepare for their next steps into adulthood. As the parent of an autistic young person, I understand first-hand the challenges families can face. I hope to help raise awareness, promote acceptance, and support a charity that make a real difference to neurodiverse children, young people, adults and their families. Too often, autistic and other neurodiverse young people face barriers, misunderstanding, and isolation when what they really need is compassion, inclusion, and opportunities to thrive. In my professional role, I work closely with many autistic teenagers and their families, supporting them through education, wellbeing, and safeguarding challenges.
I have lived experience of the many barriers that still exist for autistic young people and adults, making the work of Autistica more important than ever. Running the London Marathon would be a huge personal challenge, but also a meaningful way to raise awareness, acceptance and funds for further research. Every penny generously donated to my page is appreciated so much!
