I have spent 9 months buried deep in denial about the fact I have entered an Ironman. It is now getting scarily close and I need to start shouting about it, because I really need you to be behind me on this.

This year, in June in fact, marks my 10 year anniversary of being diagnosed with Lupus, an auto-immune disorder which was triggered by having a live vaccine required in order undertake my 10,000 mile road trip in an epic fundraising challenge; to Mongolia … So having had to emergency vacate and go straight to hospital, it was a pretty long and horrific experience to get myself back to health in order to start testing my limits. And boy have I tried to do this over the years!

The Lakesman will be my biggest yet, I think. In case you’re not sure what this is, I will be swimming 2.4 miles, then hopping on a bike for 112 miles and finally I’m just going to run a marathon. Oh - and all within the cut off times meaning under 17 hours in total. A long day. Yeh; that’s what is going to happen. It is; because it has to.

I need you to support me, please. I have never broadcast what happened to me and I think a large part of this has been to do with being in denial, which has helped me recover and keep pushing.
