LAFI Burkina is a UK charity that works to strengthen, promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities in Burkina Faso to live in a fully inclusive society.

Story

Yacinthe, Elijah, Milo, their cousin Harriet and Auntie Jessica (with mum, dad, grandad and Uncle James trailing behind!) will be running and rolling up to 10km at Parallel Windsor on the 7th July to raise money for LAFI Burkina, a UK based charity set up to support children and adults with disabilities in Burkina Faso where Yacinthe was born.

Parallel Windsor is an amazingly inclusive event where people of all ages, health conditions and abilities participate in races covering different distances cheered on by a supportive crowd.

LAFI and our partners in Burkina strive to ensure that the rights of people with disabilities are applied on the ground and not just on paper. We would love you to support our campaign to help make this vision a reality so children with disabilities have equal access to an education and adults with disabilities are valued members of their communities with access to dignified opportunities to work.

This year, LAFI is focusing on supporting our partner, Tigoung Nonma to create more sustainable livelihood opportunities for their members with disabilities through providing training, promoting the beautiful crafts they produce and opening a kiosque that will create new jobs.

In the midst of ongoing political instability, a growing humanitarian crisis and security threats, LAFI Burkina's partners have faced huge challenges over the past few years but continue to remain committed to doing all they can to improve access to school and work for children and adults with disabilities.
