Story
Singing and working with the CBSO has and continues to bless me with some of my most cherished musical moments in my life! I'm so proud that Birmingham has something this splendid to offer, despite the struggles of the city and the bad press that Birmingham gets. They do so much for the community and musically put us on the International map!
This is something we should all feel proud of and do our best to support and keep in existence, so, I'm going to try and do something really, Really (!) hard for me... running!
I have always tried to do a bit of jogging as I see runners and think woah that looks great, good on them, I wish I could do that! But, it seems insurmountably hard. If I've ever tried to run, I have to shout inwardly to myself, "Come On, if you can run this next bit, you can play Anything!" (Playing the piano is never as hard as running!).
So, here goes... one ... foot .... in .... front ... of.... another ....
Wish me luck... and if you can spare any change, please consider donating to gee me along and keep music thriving in our city.
Main Story from CBSO -
Orchestra members, chorus members, and staff from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra are running either 10k or a Half Marathon in the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run on 3rd May 2026 to raise money for our orchestra.
The CBSO plays a vital role in Birmingham’s cultural life — bringing world-class music to the city, inspiring young people through education projects, and making music accessible to communities across the region.
By supporting this run, you’re helping to ensure that live orchestral music continues to thrive in Birmingham, supporting musicians, performers, and the work we do both on and off the concert stage.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Thank you so much for supporting the CBSO and cheering us on as we take on the challenge!
