BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride 2024 · 16 June 2024 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

I’m cycling from London to Brighton on Father’s Day this year in memory of my Dad, John Mark Parnaby. He tragically passed away on his bike from sudden heart failure while cycling in a charity event in September 2018. The photo on the cover of this page was taken the morning that he died.

My Dad was my role model, my inspiration, my biggest cheerleader, and my rock. Losing him so suddenly, at the age of 22, changed my life in ways I never could have imagined - it was, and still is, the most painful thing in the world. It tore our family apart.

I am determined to carry on his legacy, honour his memory, and stay connected to him through a shared enjoyment in the things that he loved - like cycling!

I hope for a future where we have better knowledge and research so that others don’t have to die how he did, and their loved-ones don’t have to feel the pain that I did.

I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be grateful for any support you can give. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so give what you can. ❤️

Thank you 🙏
