Story
Leo is the beautiful son of my friends Laura and Kev, and little brother to Matilda. He was born on 4th January 2024 at the RVI in Newcastle. Soon after his birth, Leo was diagnosed with an extremely rare mitochondrial disease called LBSL. This diagnosis was devastating and confusing for Laura and Kev, especially as Leo appeared to be a healthy newborn baby. Since then, Leo has sadly made very little developmental progress and his medical needs have become increasingly complex. Despite everything, Leo is surrounded by so much love, and his family face every challenge with incredible strength.
This year, I am taking on two major cycling challenges in support of Leo and his family.
- On 25th April, I will be riding the Dirty Reiver — a 130km gravel event with 7,940 feet of climbing.
- 21 days later, I will be riding The Gralloch — a 110km gravel event with 5,900 feet of climbing.
I’ll be riding both of these events as part of Team Leo, raising funds for The Noah Jordan Foundation, who support Laura and Kev.
The Noah Jordan Foundation funds vital research into rare, terminal paediatric mitochondrial diseases, helping to develop treatments and ultimately find a cure. The charity also raises awareness of these conditions and provides support to the families affected by them.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a real difference - funding research, supporting families, and offering hope where it is needed.
If you’re able to donate or share this page, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much for your support.
