On friday december 6th 2024, we will be holding the Carols on the Canal outdoor concert, outside Boroughmuir high school. The music begins at 4.30pm with the University of Edinburgh brass band, followed by the University of Edinburgh Singers and the Boroughmuir school choir.

All proceeds raised will go to support mental health projects for young people in Edinburgh. Donations will be split as follows:

1) This Just giving page will go directly to 'Conscious' a student led mental health charity offering practical support and workshops to the University community.

2) Proceeds from the hot drinks stall will go directly to Boroughmuir High School parent council to raise funds for mental health support in school.

3) Cash donations on the night will be split 50:50 between Conscious charity and Boroughmuir High School.

Conscious Edinburgh

Conscious Edinburgh is a student-led mental health charity that aims to promote better mental health awareness and education amongst the student population. It was founded by University of Edinburgh students, Anusan Wijayendran and Shanna Su in 2016, after their friend Rahoul Biswas-Hawkes tragically and unexpectedly took his own life. Conscious has grown over the years, and now has over 30 student volunteers; they work hard to offer various initiatives:

- Well-being events

- Peer support groups (Medic, ADHD, Grief and New Student)

- Mental health first aid courses

- Conscious Conversations to sports clubs and societies

- Subsidised therapy with senior clinical psychologists
