Story
Rob Bartlett is a dear friend to many and parent of our community who was diagnosed with stage 4 Myeloma Cancer in May 2022, this is a rare and difficult to diagnose form of cancer which was highlighted from what was led to believe be a sporting injury and after many tests was given the mind blowing news it was cancer.
Rob was an extremely fit and healthy guy who at the time also owned the local gym in Leyburn. He is a highly respected guy who helped many people achieve their own goals in their fitness journey, going above and beyond for everyone.
So Leyburn primary school ptfa decided it was time to stand up and do something sporting Rob son does attened our school so what better way then a Half marathon
The diagnosis came as a complete shock to the family and their lives were turned upside down within 24 hours. It also transpired that the cancer had effected his kidneys and he would require life long dialysis.
After numerous rounds of chemo and regular dialysis, he was put forward for a stem cell treatment in January 2023 which would hopefully give him a more positive life prospect and the family are adapting to a very different way of life.
Without the myeloma charity research and treatment methods are not possible.
So all money raised will be split between letburn primary ptfa and Myeloma
