100 Mile tandem ride · 28 April 2024

In response to the current shortage of guide dogs and the urgent need of thousands of blind and partially sighted people, we are fundraising to reduce the waiting list for trained seeing dogs. Your donation will help us to give independence to many blind people across the UK.

Story

My name is Mel Robson. I have a visual impairment and rely on a seeing dog to provide assistance and to increase my independence.

Last year, I rode with the Stockton Wheelers to York and back (115 mile) to raise money for The Seeing Dogs Alliance. The ride was enjoyed by everyone that took part and will be repeated this year on the 8th June.

I will be riding from Ingleby Barwick to York and back on a tandem piloted (steered) by a fellow cycling club member, Steve Newton.

I started cycling approximately 3 years ago and normally ride 30 mile at the weekly Sunday club ride so this is quite a big challenge for me.

The Seeing Dogs Alliance are a small charity with minimal overheads and an aim to ensure funds are spent where its needed and provide more Seeing Dogs.

Please help The Seeing Dogs by making a donation. Your contribution, however large or small is greatly appreciated.

All money raised will be matched by Barclays Bank which has registered Seeing Dogs Alliance as a supported charity.

Thank you, Mel.
