My home country, Turkey, has been hit by the most devastating earthquake in decades on the 6th February. Thousands of buildings in 10 cities were turned to rubble killing tens of thousands of people and leaving many more homeless. Winters are harsh in Turkey and conditions on the ground are desperate for survivors, especially for children.

On 12th February, I ran the Standard Chartered Hong Kong marathon (in 4 hours 35 minutes) to raise money to support the recovery efforts on the ground. I will be running other events this year to continue raising money for this cause as it is close to my heart.
