A Team From Melton Mowbray Round Table are driving a £450 Car from Melton Mowbray to Bovec and back with a estimated mileage of 4000 in less than a week all dressed as Batman and Robin with around 25 other cars all in the aid of charity.

Help Robin Get the Freedom He Deserves 💙

A fairly ordinary Monday morning in February changed our lives forever.

At what was supposed to be a routine 20-week scan, we were told our baby had severe in-utero growth restriction. That day quickly turned into a whirlwind of tests, consultants, and devastating news. Weeks later, we celebrated a small but critical milestone—he had reached 1lb in weight and had a fighting chance of survival. But just as we allowed ourselves a moment of hope, we were told he had suffered a stroke in the womb at just 26 weeks, destroying the midline of his brain.

We didn’t even know a stroke in the womb was possible. But despite the prognosis, we made a decision: if he was fighting to survive, then we would fight with him.

After months of uncertainty, at 37 weeks we heard the most beautiful sound—a cry. He was born alive, and we named him Robin Buggsy. The name felt right: in some cultures, robins symbolise life; in others, death. And his fetal consultant was Mr. Bugg. Our little miracle had arrived.

Robin is now 6 years old and continues to fight every single day. He lives with multiple complex medical needs: he can’t walk or speak, is tube-fed, and has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and fragile lungs. Yet, through it all, he radiates joy, determination, and love.

Recently, he trialled a specialist motorised wheelchair—and it was life-changing. For the first time, he had control over where he went and could reach his favourite toys by himself. The smile on his face said it all.

Sadly, this wheelchair isn’t available through NHS funding, and we now need to raise £8,000 to buy one for Robin. This equipment would give him independence, freedom, and access to a world that’s been physically out of reach.
