Maurice and I had planned to tour Italy on our motorcycles after I had mentioned my intention to after my retirement. Sadly he passed away last year so that will never happen.

I met Maurice at Bressay parkrun and we would regularly chat to each other there. He was always upbeat and cheerful, sometimes annoyingly so, and would talk on almost any subject. I wasn't, and am still not, a runner. Maurice definitely was. He would be planning runs constantly. As well as parkrun, there were 10k, half marathon and full marathon events. He told me he was diabetic and after his death I found numerous periodicals from the IDDT, the InDependant Diabetes Trust.

I decided to dedicate the journey to Maurice and the charity he supported in order to fundraise by doing 2 somethings we both loved. Motorcycling and parkrun. Who said retirement was easy!
