Just a quick update from Sunday, my lovely friends and colleagues joined me on the walk and we all finished the 7km.

I am walking with my lovely friends and colleagues from Ashberry Recruitment for my mum who very sadly passed this February 2023. Our aim is to walk 7km around Broughton Hall Business Park on the 20/08/2023.

My poor mum Dolores Mabel Marzec was in the final stages of dementia. She had lost the ability to swallow and breathe with ease. We sat helpless and it was horrific to watch her slip away. She had suffered with dementia for 8 years.

As this dreadful condition progresses your loved one slowly disappears from you, locked away in their own self, unable speak to you clearly or even remember who you are.

You miss having your mum to talk to, sharing the happy as well as sad times. Each visit tears at your heart as you remember the strong person they were. Now there is confusion, fear and a blankness in their eyes. Every time you see them you live in hope that they recognise you albeit for the briefest of moments.

Until the onset of Covid, my lovely dad who passed in February last year, used to visit her every day to sit with her all day. I cannot imagine how painful this must have been for him to see his lovely wife like this. I am just grateful he was not here to see her in her final days.

My only joy with losing them both that they are now back together again and able to talk, laugh like days before.

I truly hope that all current breakthrough's that has been reported in the news recently works for other families in the future.....💗
