Please Support My English Channel Relay Swim for Mencap
This summer, I will be taking on one of my biggest challenges yet as part of the Mencap Marvels English Channel Relay Team, raising money for Mencap, the UK's leading charity supporting people with learning disabilities and their families.
Swimming has been a big part of my life since I was four years old. What started as club swimming has grown into a love of being in the water, and today I swim and play water polo at Brighton College. Outside the pool, I spend as much time as possible in the ocean, whether that's surfing, open-water swimming, or training towards my US Ocean Lifeguard qualification.
Being in the water is where I feel most at home, so when the opportunity came to be part of the Mencap Marvels relay team, I knew I wanted to take part. The challenge combines so many things I enjoy: swimming, teamwork, adventure, and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.
Although the English Channel is only 21 miles (34 km) wide at its narrowest point, strong tides and currents mean swimmers often cover much greater distances. Our relay team will take turns swimming day and night until we reach France, facing cold water, fatigue, busy shipping lanes, and whatever surprises the Channel has in store—including jellyfish, which I'm hoping will be cheering us on from a safe distance.
Most importantly, we are swimming to raise funds for Mencap and help support the vital work they do for people with learning disabilities, their families, and carers across the UK.
If you are able to support me, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help Mencap continue its important work and will encourage me through every training session and every mile of the crossing.
Thank you so much for your support.
