Mercer's fundraiser for The Social Mobility Foundation

Abseil challenge · 8 July 2026 to 9 July 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

We work for a society where people from all social backgrounds can thrive in education and the workplace, and all young people can explore their talents. Because we know that when we foster the potential of all of our young people, we lift up every member of our communities.

Story

On 8 July 2026, members of the Mercer Executive Leadership Team—including Phil Parkinson, Donna Biggs, and Kenny Tindall—will be swapping boardroom decks for descent ropes as they take on the Lloyd’s Charity Abseil, scaling down the iconic Lloyd’s building. It’s more than a thrilling challenge—it’s a powerful statement of our commitment to The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF).

The Social Mobility Foundation champions young people aged 16-21 across the UK who face significant barriers to education and employment due to their socioeconomic backgrounds. They believe that success should be determined by talent and ability—not by where someone was born, the school they attended, or their parents’ occupations. Talent truly is everywhere; opportunity sadly is not.

Marsh’s partnership with SMF runs for three years and we’ll be helping SMF launch an innovative platform to accelerate workplace change across the UK, while also shining a light on lived experiences, opening doors for talented young people, and building social and economic inclusion in our offices through charity initiatives that make a real difference.

We’d love your support to help break down these barriers and create a future where every young person has an equal chance to succeed. If you can, please sponsor the team—every donation goes directly to the Social Mobility Foundation and helps talented young people access opportunities, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential.

Please join us in making a difference—your generosity can change lives. For more information about The Social Mobility Foundation and their vital work, visit https://www.socialmobility.org.uk/.
