Story
1 in 2 adults in the UK say they, or someone they know, have experienced pregnancy or baby loss. I am one of them.
I have experienced a miscarriage at 12 weeks and an ectopic pregnancy. After a long journey filled with uncertainty and many tears, I was incredibly lucky to welcome my baby girl — though even that came after a traumatic birth and a 6-day hospital stay while I recovered.
Pregnancy and maternity can be a beautiful adventure. For some, it’s plain sailing. For many others, like me, it’s a journey marked by fear, loss, resilience and hope. What we don’t talk about enough is the enormous emotional and physical toll that pregnancy and baby loss take on mothers and their partners.
That’s why I’m taking part in the 8,000 Steps a Day in March to support Tommy’s.
Tommy’s funds vital research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth — working to find the causes, improve treatments, and ultimately save babies’ lives. They also provide trusted information and support for families navigating incredibly difficult journeys.
I’m doing this to raise awareness, to help fund life-saving research, and to remind anyone walking this path that you are not alone. There is support. There is a safe space. And wherever you are in your journey — please know that you will survive this.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean so much. Let’s make every step count 💛
