Merle’s Wish was created from love, strength and one woman’s determination to ensure that nobody faces cancer alone.

Before my mum, Merle, sadly passed away, she began the process of setting up a charity inspired by what she witnessed during her own treatment journey. Whilst battling cancer herself, she saw first-hand how many people were not only fighting the disease, but also facing emotional isolation, financial hardship and overwhelming uncertainty completely alone.

She wanted to change that.

Although she never got to see the charity officially registered, her vision, compassion and unwavering desire to help others lives on through Merle’s Wish.

Today, Merle’s Wish exists to provide both emotional and financial support to individuals and families navigating cancer without the support network many of us take for granted. Whether that means helping towards everyday essentials, easing financial pressures, offering comfort during treatment, or simply reminding someone they are not alone — every act of support matters.

At the heart of Merle’s Wish is kindness, dignity and human connection.
