Story
In April 2026, I’m running my first ever marathon, the Paris Marathon to raise money for CCLG: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association, in honour of my incredible niece, Emilia who was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) at just 2 years old.
LCH is a rare condition that behaves like a cancer and can affect the bones, organs, and immune system. Watching Emilia go through treatment so young was heart-wrenching, but she showed more strength than I could ever imagine.
In March 2025, after almost two years of hospital visits and brave moments, she was given the all clear. We’re incredibly grateful but, the journey continues. She still needs regular check-ups to monitor her health, and the worry never fully goes away.
Why CCLG?
I’ve chosen to support CCLG because they are one of the few UK charities that:
- Fund research into rare conditions like LCH
- Provide support to families affected by childhood cancers and histiocytic disorders
- Advocate for better care, awareness, and hope for kids just like my niece
By donating, you’re helping fund life-saving research, expert care, and future breakthroughs, especially for rare conditions that don’t always receive the attention they deserve.
Why a Marathon?
Running a marathon is a huge physical and mental challenge, but it’s nothing compared to what these children and families go through. Every step I take in Paris will be for Emilia, for other kids like her and for a future where no child faces cancer or LCH alone.
Please donate whatever you can. Every pound helps make a difference.
Together, we can help more children get the all-clear and keep them there. 💛
Thank you for your support,
Meryl
