Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page and supporting The Meththa Foundation-UK. On 30 May 2026, We will be participating in our annual charity walk called "Walking for the LIMBLESS." This collective walk by about 50 senior folk is more than just a challenge; it is a heartfelt mission to bring hope and independence to those who have lost limbs in the remotest regions of Sri Lanka.

In Sri Lanka, losing a limb often means losing one's livelihood and dignity, especially in impoverished communities. Our foundation operates four main centres in Maho, Mankulam, Mulativu, and Balapitiya, along with a mobile outreach service that reaches disabled individuals who cannot travel. We provide prostheses and rehabilitation services free of charge to those who need them most. Over 500 new prostheses have been provided this year alone, restoring mobility and empowering individuals to support their families and communities once again.

The causes of limb loss have shifted from war injuries to diabetes, trauma, infections, and tumours. Unfortunately, government rehabilitation services are limited, and privately purchased prosthetic limbs cost between Rs 200,000 to Rs 400,000—an amount far beyond the reach of most families. Our production cost is only around £125-150 per prosthesis thanks to our motto "waste not want not," where we creatively reuse discarded parts to keep expenses low.

Your generous support can make a life-changing difference. By donating through JustGiving—an easy, fast, and secure platform—you help us continue providing these vital services at no cost to the poorest individuals. Your contribution will go directly to The Meththa Foundation-UK without delay or extra fees. Together with our partners The Lebara Trust & Manithaneyan Trust, we strive to rebuild lives one step at a time.

Our fundraising target is £15,000. Please join me in walking for this cause or donate today to help transform despair into hope. Every pound brings us closer to restoring independence for those who need it most.
