Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
If you're a fan of the singer/songwriter MIKA, you'll know that he turns 42 on 18th August 2025.
As we have done for a number of years, Mika Fan Club plans to mark the occasion by making a group donation to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) via this JustGiving page.
Why the UNHCR? By the end of 2024, there were an estimated 123.2 million people displaced globally by conflict and persecution. That number is roughly equivalent to the population of Japan! UNHCR gives refugees the shelter, protection and safety they urgently need, making sure they are not returned to danger, have access to fair and efficient asylum procedures, and have basic human rights respected while they secure a longer-term solution. Whether refugee and displaced families are uprooted for weeks, months or years, UNHCR remains long after the headlines disappear.
Back in December 2015, Mika visited Lebanon to witness the plight of Syrian refugees in that country first-hand. In November 2017, he was the featured speaker at a UNHCR fundraising gala in Milan. He has continued to support the UNHCR's efforts over the past 10 years.
The international fan community of Mika Fan Club, whose membership transcends country borders just as UNHCR does, has taken up Mika's cause. Over the past several years, the MFC has raised more than €30,000 for UNHCR and has worked to increase awareness of the organization's efforts.
You can wish Mika a Happy 42nd Birthday and show your support of UNHCR by making a donation through this Mika Fan Club JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving -- they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
