In memory of Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan

147 mile walk in fire kit and BA · 2 August 2025

Fire Fighters Charity provides care and support to the UK’s fire family. It helps with any health and wellbeing challenges firefighters, control staff, and everyone working in – or retired from – the UK’s fire services, as well as their families, may face - during and after service

Story

On the 15th May 2025, Firefighters Martyn Sadler, 38, and Jennie Logan, 30, sadly lost their lives in operational duty whilst in attendance to an incident at Bicester Motion.

In memory of them, to support their families, and the wider firefighting community, Recruits Firefighters from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are collectively walking 147 miles (approximately 10 hours) to represent the distance from the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Training Academy to the incident ground, with a goal to raise money for the Firefighters Charity.

The event will take place throughout the day on the 2nd August 2025, around the perimeter of Sefton Park, Liverpool.
