Story

Gemma, sadly passed away in July 2023, after being diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma in September 2020. Gemma’s nearly 3 year journey took her through weeks of chemo, a massive hip operation and recovery period, intensive radiotherapy, a clinical trial and further Chemo.

Gemma worked hard at whatever she did, and following her diagnosis, Gemma remained so positive and always saw the best in life. She had amazing strength and determination and so much resilience.

Gemma truly lived life to the full when she was able to and loved the outdoors and being by the sea. Gemma is always with us whatever we do and will be cheering us on!

Trudy Mace, owner of Monxton and Grateley Golf Centre has kindly offered to hold a Golf Day and donate proceeds from the driving range and course to Young Lives Vs Cancer who helped us a family throughout Gemma's journey and after her passing.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
