Story
As many of you know, I would never claim to be Sir Mo Farah (I think I’ve run more baths than anything and I’m 6ft 2”!!), so running the London Marathon is definitely out of my comfort zone and would be a huge achievement for me. To be able to raise money for such an amazing charity which has close connections to my family and I in recent times, would be amazing.
During the pandemic, my mum had major heart surgery due to a condition called Aortic valve stenosis which led to valve replacement. The treatment and care that she received was incredible, and we are so grateful to those who have helped in saving her life. She is still on the road to full recovery, but she’ll be fitter than me soon enough!! We owe everything to the research and science behind procedures such as this.
Unfortunately, not all of the good ones can be saved. On Wednesday 28th June last year, we lost an amazing man, Gary Woodcraft. Gary suffered an unrecoverable heart attack whilst playing his beloved football which shocked us all. Gary was not only my father in law, but a true gent of a man and loved by everyone who knew him. Since this day, he has been sorely missed . Gary also ran the London Marathon back in 2000, so being able to run in this event this year makes it even more special. I’m not holding out to beat his time, but I’ll give it a go!!
Thank you for taking the time to read my page and for your support helping this great cause. All of the money raised will go to the British Heart Foundation in the hope that it will help to beat heartbreak forever!!
